TAKING PAYMENT
If
you don't do anything else to help yourself sell
online you must be able to take credit
card payments. Pay
Pal is used by almost all online auction sellers.
Be sure to check your online auction site's policies
on payment when creating your auction description.
Payment
processors don't accept payment exactly the same
way. While Pay
Pal is used by most online auction
participants, other companies may be a better choice
if you also have a website. We like 2Checkout because
we can take payment for physical or electronic items.
We also use ClickBank for
any sites we want to create a mini-site for or one
we'd like an affiliate program with. StormPay is
another possiblity for both auctions and taking payments.
Numerous options exists but these three companies
have taken
care of all our needs.
Here
are some questions to ask when choosing a payment
processor.
- What
are the costs: monthly, transactions, setup fees,
charge back, etc.?
- Can
I sell physical items and electronic (downloadable)
items or only one but not the other?
- Can
I take check and credit cards payments?
- How
good is tech support?
- How
easy is it to set up payment on a web site?
- Can
I take payment for more than one item at a time,
or only one item?
- Can
I restrict payment from countries I'd rather not
deal with?
Online
payments should be possible 24 X 7, automatically.
Numerous companies now exist to allow you to do this.
Choose wisely. Seek advice from those you know who
are selling online. It
can be done. It is now easy for anyone to set up
payments without hiring a computer tech.
We
suggest you at
least have a Pay Pal account. Also
possible is 2checkout which
takes payment for physical and electronic products.
Storm Pay and Bid
Pay are used by
some.
